Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and founder of the Ayaan Hirsi Ali Foundation. She was born in Somalia and fled to the Netherlands to escape a forced marriage. She earned her M.A. in Political Science at the University of Leiden. Ayaan served as an elected member of the Dutch Parliament, where she focused on furthering the integration of non-Western immigrants into Dutch society, and on defending the rights of Muslim women. Today, the AHA Foundation is the leading organization working to end honor violence that shames, hurts, or kills thousands of women and girls in the United States.
